Introduction to US Army Legal Assistance, Relative Army Regulations, and Command Structure and Culture

This presentation is intended to be a detailed overview primarily geared toward the Legal Assistance Mission within the Department of Defense, and Army Regulations that guide department of defense assets and the military with the civilian community.
The session covers highlights that include but are not limited to: the Legal Assistance mission on Joint Base Lewis McChord under Army Regulation (AR) 27-3, Understanding JBLM as a Garrison (military base), Service of Process on JBLM, Family Support under AR 608-99, Military Law/UCMJ as it relates to Family law interests, Military and its Command Structure, Understanding the Commander’s role and limitation, Military protective orders, Knowing the limits of the Commander, Domestic Violence Processes, Resources, and Services, Military Victim Trans-compensation, Jurisdiction as related to family/DV issues, and JBLM family crisis resources, General discussion of types of Veteran and Eligible Service related to JBLM services and military division retirement and drafting Orders in compliance with DFAS.
The evening will start with a light meal at 5:00 and the CLE itself will be from 5:30-7:15 pm. Location: Olympia Center, Room 101/102.
